About me. (and the reasons for this blog)
Other than the obvious egotism and reach for immortality, the need to subdue the earth and insist that the world does indeed match what I have conjured in my imagination, the need to chronicle the obvious; that the planets turn, the seasons change, and the plucked violin sounds the same today as it did yesterday, this blog was created for much simpler reasons.
Written mostly as letters home, this is a chronicle however incomplete of a few interesting encounters with this world, an attempt to come to terms with distance and estrangement, a search for stability and meaning, and an overwhelming desire to simply keep in touch.
A substitute for the "Sunday afternoon, front porch, rocking chair, paper bag lunch, crowd," it is simply an alternative to the occasional postcard and Christmas letter but still with the same message: “The weather is beautiful, wish you were here”
